BFBS TV Player is a service offering access to TV and Radio channels and other content provided exclusively for members of the British Armed Forces and their dependants serving or posted overseas. The service is available via a Defence Gateway account login. In addition to this privacy policy, you should be aware of the Defence Gateway Privacy Policy and read the two policies together.
We may change this privacy notice from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure you are happy with any changes.
When you use the BFBS TV Player, whether by an App or a website, we may record:
We do this by using, amongst other things, cookies (although the information we gather through our cookies remains anonymous so we cannot tell who you are). Once you log in or submit information through the website or App we will know who you are and your activities on the BFBS TV Player App or website and information about you may be recorded on our systems. We do not collect, exchange or store any other personal identifying information from or with the Defence Gateway, nor do we have any access to your Defence Gateway password or other Defence Gateway security information at any time.

This is to ensure you are an entitled viewer of BFBS TV services and to keep a record any BFBS equipment you may have on loan. The information may be used to cross-check your entitlement to use the BFBS TV Player. We do not exchange this information with any persons or organisations outside BFBS.
We may receive information about you and your activities on and off the BFBS TV Player using third party analytics tools which may include use of third party cookies delivered to you.
We do not currently offer any services requiring billing or have any need to store card, bank or other payment information.
We use this information for all sorts of reasons.
We do not offer our information to third party organisations or external marketing companies and therefore you should not receive information from anyone other than BFBS or the Defence Gateway as a result of the data we gather.
From time to time we might wish to provide you with important information about other BFBS welfare services, such as BFBS Radio, BFBS TV, Forces Cinemas, Forces News and similar information we think is relevant to the welfare services we provide to the British Armed Forces, or we wish to communicate with you about any changes to the service, or if the MOD instructs us to communicate with you. We may send you such information by post or email.
We transfer certain information with our service provider partners who provide the BFBS TV Player service and infrastructure. This helps us analyse how our services are used, measure the effectiveness and popularity of programmes, channels and services, provide technical information on the reliability of the service and apps to help us improve and better meet the audience needs as far as practically possible. Our partners must adhere to strict confidentiality obligations in a way that is consistent with this Data Policy and the agreements we enter into with them.
We may also share your personal information if required to do so to enable providers of connectivity working for the MOD to deliver the BFBS TV Player service, for example where a secure connection is necessary.
In some circumstances, we may have to disclose your personal information by law, because a court or military or civilian police or other law enforcement agency has asked us for it.

If you think any information we have about you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to us or email us as soon as possible. We will correct or update any information as soon as we can.
We are committed to ensuring that the information we have is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect, including secure data storage facilities and electronic password protection.
If at any point you suspect or become aware of a security incident (i.e. your information is stolen or you receive suspicious communication from someone holding themselves out to from BFBS or BFBS or from a dupe website claiming to be affiliated with BFBS), please forward the communication to us or report the incident by email to support@bfbs.com
Our BFBS TV Player website or app or marketing email messages could sometimes include information with links to other third party websites which are not within our control. If you click on these you will be transferred to those third party’s websites and we cannot be held responsible for their content or the protection and privacy of any information which you provide to those websites. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy policy applicable to the website in question.
